Advocacy Training

Advocacy is a powerful tool for driving change and ensuring that the rights of children with disabilities are recognized and upheld. At Step Ahead Trust, our Advocacy Training program equips parents and young persons with disabilities with the knowledge and skills to become effective advocates for themselves and their communities.

The program focuses on:

  • Understanding Rights: Educating participants about the legal frameworks and policies protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in Zimbabwe and beyond.
  • Communication Skills: Teaching effective communication techniques to confidently engage with policymakers, educators, and community leaders.
  • Building Confidence: Encouraging self-belief and assertiveness, enabling participants to advocate for access to education, healthcare, and social services.
  • Community Awareness: Training participants to lead campaigns that raise awareness and foster inclusivity within their communities.

Through our Advocacy Training, we aim to create a ripple effect—empowering individuals to not only advocate for their own needs but also inspire broader societal change. By amplifying their voices, we ensure that the barriers faced by children with disabilities and their families are addressed, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable society.

Together, let’s champion the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities. Advocacy starts with awareness, and change begins with action.
